As some of you may know or I may have said, my wife owns a hair dressing shop, and every year, as a thank you to her staff and associates, she takes ‘the girls’ and their partners/husbands out for a Xmas nights entertainment with drinks, a show night, a meal and a minibus there and back. Well this year, being as the available show night main act was Show maddy maddy (a 1970’s tribute band) and she thought that the ‘girls’ would not have heard of Showaddywaddy never mind appreciate their music, decided to arrange something completely different this year and this weekend was the night of the Xmas party!
Dawn had decided to hold a Casino night at our house. The night was Casino Royalle and a James Bond theme night although some of those concerned had a little trouble to start with stating they were coming as a cowboy? When evening dress and cocktail dresses were supposed to be the order of the night.
Dawn ‘The Gaffer’ and yours truly Mr ‘Quick Hands’ Malcolm.
We were to be playing a total of three tables, Roulette, Craps and Black Jack. and so we had asked a good friend of ours to be the other croupier along with myself.
The Craps Table.
Black Jack,
At 7.30 the mini bus arrived with the mottly crew and they were greeted with Bucks Fizz followed by a selection of drinks from the ‘three bars’
Drinks flowed all night from the two croupiers serving whatever the ‘gamblers requested. Upon arrival the party were split into two groups and games were started on the roulette wheel and the craps table. After 30 minutes play the tables were closed and gamblers were invited to partake of a selection of canopes from the Resturante Alacarte. Suitably refreshed the games started again with the ‘Rouletters’ moving onto the Craps table while the ‘Crappers’ moved onto Black Jack for the next 30 minutes along with more cocktails.
After this stint we stopped for more food. This time the Resturante (kitchen) opened its doors and guests helped themselves to a hot and cold selection from the menu
After the final ‘games’ session, chips were cashed in for money and totals were compared. Jodie ‘The Joker’ had won overall winning £789 and so was awarded with her prize, a bottle of champagne. The evening was rounded off with Kareoke and more cocktails and some exvellent renditions of popular songs such as ‘Sake Eyes’ Scott singing ‘Barbie Girl! The mini bus took the Gamblers away at 1.00am, leaving the two croupiers and their wives to ‘chill out’ with more Kareoke and cocktails until 2.00am with Dawn and myself finally getting to bed about 4.30am. Overall a good evening was had by all but I don’t think I’ll be having another casino night as numbers and alcohol are not a good mixture and explaining game rules to gamblers with quite a high proportion in their blood is not easy.
Thanks for taking the time to share this
